Bedside Table

This two draw bedside table i purchased at a furniture store that was closing down it was $65 but i got it for $40. I picked it up after work & carried it all the way up Katoomba Street, on the train & home. It may be small but boy did it get heavy real quick.

Here it is in the shed ready for some paint & as its raw pine i did not have to do anything to it first. don't know why the picture kept loading sideways.

The paint was left over from my sons room it a Dulux colour called Zunni. a real nice dark aqua colour.
Left it to dry for a few days & then dry brushed flat white over the top.

Then just a light hand sand & a coat of varnish.

The knobs i got at the Antique store in Blackheath Victory Theatre Antique Centre. You cant see it but they have a star burst pattern on them. I also add wheels to the legs.

Here it is in my newly renovated bedroom [more on that another day]. The chair i purchased from one of those linen/home-wares stores it was quite expensive at $69, but after 3 weeks of thinking about it, i just had to have it for my new room so i saved up for it. It came as a set but luckily you could purchase it separate.

Kitchen Chairs

on thursday after work i went to the Salvoes store to look for some baking dishes. for those who dont know what the Salvo Store is. no luck in the dish department but i did spy 6 kitchen chairs being unloaded from the truck. after enquiring if there was a table to match & the answer being no, i then asked about a price. with some negotiation as i had to have them delivered, [as some of you know i dont drive so big purchases have to have some extra thinking before i will consider buying them].
i got them for $10 a chair plus $25 delivery, so a total of $85 & we now have 6 awesome new timber chairs.

these orange plastic chairs came from my father in laws, we have been using them for here since we moved in. i still like them as they are orange & made in Australia in the 70's so still pretty cool. they will be put to use when we have people over for dinner, oh & they are great for when your painting as they have been used for that for as long as i can remember.

some of you may remember the extension dinning table my son made for his year 12 wood last year & here it is with its 6 new chairs. it does seat 12 so i will be on the look out for more chairs.

Dinning Table

son #2 graduated year 12 on Thursday night & for his wood technology project he made me an extension dinning table. he came second :o) for the table & third over all in the year. we are so proud of him & the table is beautiful.

the table top is made from Sydney Red Gum
the table surround/frame is made from New Guinea Rose wood

the legs are gum, rose wood & then gum sandwiched together

when it is all 3 pieces it will seat 12 comfortably or 15 if you need it

the room is big enough so it will always be the three pieces.  i will need to make new table cloths or maybe sew some of the ones i have together.
now i am on the look out for chairs. i want a bench seat for one side, 2 carver chairs for the ends & chairs for the other side. but for now our old 70's plastic orange chairs will have to do.

Craft Room update 2

my old bookcase now distressed white, giving/gave away one whole shelf of books & magazines

shelves with the draws, i have not sorted it all out yet so it will be changed around when i get some more time

this was my computer table. it is a square dinning table that was once round & painted dark green, i striped  & hand painted the dolls about 15 years ago & its still in great shape.

this is my new computer table, i came home on monday night to find it already set up. 'A' had the boys at work make it for me after work on monday. its fits very nice in the corner & its heaps smaller. the flat screen is also new to me 'A' got himself a bigger one. this is my first flat screen & i like it, my other one was one of the old giant ones that take up most of your desk hence the dinning table.

Furniture & a Rug

Monday i painted the white on the kitchen dresser i got from a freecycler & finished off the new towel cupboard.

on Tuesday i sanded the kitchen dresser & put on a coat of varnish. then J & i cleared out a trailer full of ivy & jasmin that had worked its way through a few of our trees & on the wall of the front stairs. Wednesday i mowed & raked the front & back lawns, did a bit of weeding & in the afternoon carried up the dresser to the back veranda. put the clean glass back in the doors & hung them.
A worked on Saturday morning, then went fishing with Scott & dad.

i had started a floor mat a couple of weeks ago {well 1 row}, i spent most of the afternoon working on that.
it is made out off old T-shirts from the 3 boys.
i have been thinking of teaching a class on rag rugs, but I'm not sure how to advertise it.

home made pizza & garlic bread for tea

today i cooked early, orange & raisin slab {mmm my fav}, snicker doodles & my new item this week is passion fruit pudding for after tea. made extra choc chip biscuits last week & froze them so got out half of those. tonight's tea is baked sausages with onion & gravy, mashed potato's, broccoli & carrots.
after lunch made space for my kitchen dresser, in my craft room. filled the top shelves with stacks of fabric, well some of it anyway LOL.

towel cupboard into the bathroom, all the towels are on the line so its a bit empty. the draw holds the flannels & hand towels.
